How to Tame a Fox in Minecraft (A Simple Step-by-Step Guide)
Do you want a cute fox pet in hour beautiful Minecraft house you just built? My easy guide will show you exactly how you can find and tame a fox in Minecraft easily, I have also add images in this guide to make more understandable.
1. Where Do Foxes Spawn in Minecraft?
Foxes doesn’t spawn anywhere in the Minecraft world, they have specific home biomes. You’ll need to pack your bags(few essential items) and head out of your house to find either Taiga or the Snowy Taiga.
These biomes are easy to spot. Taigas are dense forests filled with spruce trees and ferns, while Snowy Taigas are their colder, frost-covered cousins. If you see sweet berry bushes growing wild, you’re in the right place! If you see those berry, grab as many as you can because Foxes love sweet berries. Foxes usually spawn in groups of two to four, so if you see one, there are likely more nearby.

2. What You Need to Tame Them?
Taming a fox doesn’t require a lot of fancy gear, but you’ll want to be prepared so you don’t have to run back and forth to your base. You need few basic items and handful of berries to breed two foxes, the baby fox will be tamed! Here’s a quick checklist of what to bring:
- Sweet Berries – 🍓 You’ll need at least a few. Foxes love berries.
- Building Blocks (Optional but handy) – Dirt, wood, or cobblestone. Helpful for gently guiding foxes into a specific breeding area.
- Leads – You put a lead on two adult fox, bring those into your breeding area and fed them.
3. The Taming Process
First, I built a small 2×2 area using glass blocks right in the Taiga biome to assist me. This helps keep the foxes from running away when you’re trying to feed them, they really don’t like player presence. Then, I lured two wild foxes into the pen using with lead.

Once both parent foxes are safely inside, feed each fox sweet berries by right-clicking on them. You’ll know it’s working when you see heart particles floating above their heads. After that, give them a few more berries. Soon, a baby fox will appear! It might take a few minutes for the baby to grow up, you can feed the baby some berries to fasten up the growth rate, once it does you’ll have a loyal fox that trusts you and won’t run away from you.

4. Bonus Point
So, you’ve finally got your very own tamed fox, yay 🎉 that’s awesome! But here’s a little heads-up 😜 even though your fox won’t run away from you anymore but it also won’t automatically follow you around like a wolf because they aren’t wolf. If you want to bring your new furry friend home, you’ll need to gently guide it. Wanna know the easiest ways? You can use a lead (just attach it and gently pull so it wont break) or pop your fox into a boat (if u are one of those kinda players 😜) and take it back to base. It’s a little extra effort, but totally worth it for your new furry companion, right! 😄. Pretty easy guide on “How to tame a Fox in Minecraft” is done.
